Dance

Traditional dance education using a proven curriculum which has evolved over 60 years.

Tiny Dancer

A unique blend of ballet, tap and a weekly craft project.  Students will learn the basics of ballet and tap and reinforce behavioral skills such as sharing, taking turns, following directions, listening, and social skills.

Ballet and Tap

Let your little one have fun and learn grace, poise, and confidence while exploring classic ballet technique.  Then shift gears and allow them to learn new skills while making noise in a whole new way with the sound and age-old rhythm of tap.

Ballet, Tap and Jazz

Designed for older kids with more concentration on technique, combinations, and precision, this class ads the style and funky-ness of popular classic jazz dancing styles.

Pointe

The perfect balance of beauty and grace.  At Studio D this means a holistic emphasis for the wellness of all students. This class is only offered for students with well-developed ankles and feet, proper ballet prerequisites, and a progressive ballerina attitude meaning healthy nutrition and self-care.


Progressive Dance

The latest dance styles and techniques promoting positive energy and emotions.

Hip-Hop

This class uses a balance of freestyle and choreographed movements that blend breaking and popping all while incorporating the latest diverse trends.

Broadway

A fun and lively class where students will learn the choreography of classic musical dances, theatrical style, stage presence, and set procedures.

Contemporary

Today’s newest techniques and latest trends of contemporary dance incorporating the work of leading choreographers as seen on hit TV dance shows will be explored.

Lyrical Ballet

This is a beautiful and relaxed form of ballet which blends grace, balance, creativity and emotion.  Students must have prior ballet training.

Modern Movement

A delicate, graceful, and dramatic movement form building on principles of traditional ballet and lyrical ballet and encouraging emotional expression.

Music Movement

A fun and exploratory class that blends various dance styles with an emphasis on ballet basics.  Students will learn poise, strength, grace and flexibility while exploring classical to contemporary music.  This vast spectrum of music and movement is guaranteed to inspire.

Creative Expression

Encouraging self-expression and inner growth through motion.

Creative and Explorative Movement

A free and easy dance class incorporating weekly themes that are open for personal interpretation of the dancer.  Perfect for the student who needs more creative freedom than structured dance forms offer.

Exceptional Dance

A class for students with special physical or mental needs designed to encourage personal expression by embracing and feeling the universal vibration through music and movement.

Ethnic Dance

Classes will explore a variety of international dance forms and cultures and learn common values such as diversity and appreciation.

Hawaiian Hula

This is a beginning hula class that includes steps, style, costuming, and some language and chanting. All Hawaiian hula is based on story telling with the hands describing the stories. Let your feet and hips keep rhythm while you learn to tell stories with your hands, the most important part of the body in hula.

Irish Step Dance

Irish dancing is deeply rooted in tradition, but is also ever evolving, making it a unique and exciting dance form. Students will learn the basic steps that are the foundation for all Irish dance. Both ceili (group) and solo dancing will be covered. Classes will also include a proper warm-up with exercises and stretches designed to build strength and flexibility. We will focus on good technique, posture, and proper foot position, all while dancing to lively Irish Reels and Jigs!

Jamband Dancing

A improvisational class where students learn to move freely with their bodies and flow to the music of today’s hottest jambands so they can be ready to dance come concert time.

Line Dancing

This is a fun, high-energy class where students will learn a variety of popular line dances which will increase their ability to recognize different musical beats, follow a series of directions, and complete a series of coordinated moves.

Social Event Dancing

This class teaches social event dancing for teens including popular group and couple dances.  Perfect for the student who is starting to go to boy-girl dances and wants to feel more comfortable.  A fun, positive, and safe activity for teens.

Private Lesson

A one-on-one lesson with the instructor of choice in any discipline that Studio D offers.

Movement Arts

Progressive movement arts blended with the healing arts.

Nia

A modern dance form blending the movement arts, martial arts, and healing arts. With a less formal approach, it focuses on engaging the senses while using the body in a non-impactful, healthy way.

Jivamukti Yoga

This style balances the spiritual and physical aspects of yoga and teaches kids to relax, focus, and to calm their emotions while moving through poses. This class draws on metaphors that kids understand so it is mindful but still engaging.

Pilates

This class is especially helpful for students who are enrolled at other classes at Studio D since it teaches proper body alignment and promotes balanced muscle development creating a dancer with wonderful form.


































Workshops

These are one-hour supplementary self-improvement events designed to augment dance and movement classes and target current issues that children face. The workshops will equip children with the tools and techniques to successfully navigate through these challenging areas.  They are designed to provide a holistic, well-balanced approach to dance through personal development.

Nutrition

Designed to educate kids on how to make healthy food choices, which foods to eat at which times when on the go or at home and why, and portion control presented in an engaging and memorable way.

Cool Charm

The Boulder version of southern cotillion.  This teaches kids basic manners and social skills around common situations such as personal introductions, phone manners, table manners, being a host/hostess or guest, and basic conversational skills.

Healthy Hygiene Habits

Presented in a comfortable and non-embarrassing manner, this workshop is designed to help form good hygiene habits early.  Head to-toe-care and respect for the body will be covered.

Self-Growth and Esteem

This workshops focuses on instilling the power of positive thinking and a "can-do" attitude at an early age and the importance of keeping a good outlook as we grow up.  It includes powerful tools such as creating kids visions boards and picture journaling.

Peer Relations

Kids will learn how to positively and successfully deal with peer issues such as conflict, peer pressure, behavior, and mutual respect through role-playing exercises that provide them the skills and experience to successfully deal with these situations when they arise in real-life.

Emotional Wellness

Designed to help kids learn how to deal with and manage their emotions through practicing powerful hands-on techniques and tactics designed to prevent escalation and provide an "emotional tool chest" for kids to access in tough situations.

Mind/Body/Spirit Balance

This fun workshop focuses on balancing human energy of the mind, body, spirit and emotions.  It educates kids on the seven chakras of the body and other basic energy systems.  We will incorporate the five senses in activities with various exciting props and tools.

Goal Setting / Focus / Prioritization

Designed from a practical perspective, kids will learn usable techniques to help them get organized, prioritize, focus, set goals and achieve them despite today's distractions.

Healthy Competition

This workshop will teach kids how to compete in a balanced, healthy way.  It shows kids how to win graciously, respect the talents of others, and how to lose in a way that doesn't break their spirit.

Diversity

This workshop teaches kids to appreciate and embrace their differences and to see all things as unique and beautiful.  Kids will work on exercises that teach them how to form positive thoughts and statements that welcome the things that make each of us special.
